Not all Vehicle Routing problems are alike. Full load timber transport from multiple forest sites to multiple saw and pulp mills is quite a different problem from multi-drop deliveries out of one or two depots. The same optimisation techniques cannot easily be applied to both problems without major compromises. Containers - which must be collected, delivered for emptying while the vehicle waits and then taken to 3rd location - provide another example.
