Optrak Vehicle Routing for Food and Drink

Optrak is being used with great success in the food and drinks sector, both as an operational tool and for planning of fixed routes, with clients including general food service companies such as Brakes and 3663 and drinks wholesaler Matthew Clark Wholesale. The following lists just some of the adaptations we have made to give our customers a better solution that matches their real-world issues.

Vehicle loading

Different vehicle loading solutions have been provided to deal with multi-temperature vehicles in various configurations, including side-door loading and moveable bulkheads, as well as mixed roll-cages and pallets.

Some sectors require multi-crew deliveries. Beer deliveries, in particular, may require 3-man crews. Optrak allows you to specify the additional crew requirement and adjusts delivery times to take into account the quicker unloading.

Complex time-windows

Delivery sites such as canteens, hotels, pubs and restaurants often have complex time-windows. For instance you may be able to deliver morning and afternoon but not at lunchtime. Optrak allows an unlimited number of time windows to be held across the customer, with different patterns for different days of the week.

Side and rear loading

Some beer delivery sites require vehicles to be off-loaded from the side, some only from the rear. Optrak can cater for the placement of orders on the vehicle to permit unloading.

Airside and secure access

Airside deliveries in airports, prisons and sites such as the Houses of Parliament may require vetted crew. With Optrak it is easy to flag which crew can deliver to which sites.

Customer service

Companies in the food and drinks sector compete on customer service. Optrak Realisation with it’s real-time vehicle routing and KPI management was designed around the customer service requirements of one of our customers. See the article on Brakes for a description of what it did for them.

"In our competitive industry, the ability to proactively set and meet customer expectations is a key part of our competitiveness and remains a differentiater for Brakes. Without the automation provided by Optrak and its real-time and business intelligence applications, it simply would not be possible or practical to manage the customer expectations in the same way"
