Routing Questions

Will it work for me? Our problem is too complex.

Of course we cannot say "yes" until we know what your problem is. But the answer is "probably". Optrak has been used in industries from food services to waste food collection and from forestry to newspaper delivery. See our industry solutions for examples. These problems are often complex, involving specialist vehicles or tight delivery constraints.

We’ve tried it before and it didn’t work. What’s different about Optrak?

Optrak takes a different approach to implementing Vehicle Routing than most of our competitors. Whereas they will normally sell "out-of-the-box" solutions we will ensure we fully understand your requirements and tailor not only the product but the implementation process to suit your needs. We work hard with you and your IT department to try to ensure that the data is correct and available in a timely manner – one of the critical factors in the success of any product. We won’t sell Optrak unless we’re certain that it is going to work technically. But you will have to commit to the project and you will have to give Optrak accurate information in the agreed format for it to work.

Are we too small to use Vehicle Routing?

We have customers using Optrak successfully and cost-effectively with as few as 6 vehicles. Pricing is dependent on your fleet size, too, so if you only have a few vehicles you will pay less than a company with 100. The threshold at which it can be cost-justified will depend on the complexity of your problem and the importance of the other benefits it can bring, such as improved customer service, reduced use of 3rd party carriers and reduced planning time.
