TMS

A transport management system (TMS) is software for managing freight and distribution operations end to end — order capture, route planning, execution and dispatch, fleet or carrier management, tracking, proof of delivery, and freight settlement. Route optimisation is one component of a TMS: many products embed a basic optimiser or integrate a specialist one. Optrak is a specialist route and load optimisation engine rather than a full TMS, and is typically integrated alongside a TMS or ERP — for example via an SAP interface — that owns order management and execution.
